Hoodoos at first light, Bryce Amphitheatre

Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah, USA

Bryce Canyon provides one of the more tangible perspectives on the force of natural erosion.  The geologically young limestone provides limited barriers to the combined effects of water and temperature change.  The resulting phantom-like spires, or hoodoos, seem to glow from within when the light from the rising sun catches them, making the hoodoos appear alive.
